About Black Blade Literary

Black Blade Literary is an editorial service based in Edinburgh, Scotland. It specialises in science fiction, fantasy and horror (sometimes known as genre fiction or speculative fiction).

Our professional writers and editors each have over a decade of experience in the publishing industry. Black Blade Literary offers constructive support for new and established writers to improve their book ideas, manuscripts and supporting documents.

Black Blade Literary is run by director Dr Russell Jones with assistance from hand-selected freelancers.

Russell has been writing and editing professionally for more than a decade. He was deputy editor of the award winning science fiction magazine Shoreline of Infinity for eight years, helping hundreds of writers to improve and publish their stories. Russell has also edited three successful writing anthologies, taught creative writing at undergraduate and postgraduate level in universities, has run more than one hundred live sci-fi and fantasy events, and has a PhD in Creative Writing. Russell has worked with dozens of novelists to improve their books, many of which were later published.

As a writer… Russell’s writing has won numerous awards. He has published three sci-fi and fantasy novels, six collections of poetry, one fantasy graphic novel, dozens of short stories and hundreds of poems, with more books coming out soon.
